KOKOMO - Donald Paul Smith, 80, Kokomo formerly of Anderson, died December 21, 2006 at North Woods Commons Assisted Living Facility-Kokomo after an extended illness.
He was born December 1, 1926 in Anderson, Indiana, and resided in Kokomo, Indiana. He lived in this area all of his life.
Don retired from the United States Postal Service in 1982. He also owned Smith's Home Repair. And had worked for Howard Highsmith Builder.
He served his country in the US Navy as a mailman during WWII.
He was a member of East Lynn Christian Church. Don was a member of I.O.O.F. Canton, Ivy Rebekah Lodge, I.O.O.F. and American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Betty Joann (Alt) Smith. Two Children: Claudia S. Allen of Kokomo and Mark A. & wife Nancy Smith of Sun City, Arizona. Daughter-in-law: Terri Smith of Scottsburg. Five Grandchildren: Tiffani Allen, Melissa Smith, Craig & wife Terra Smith, April & husband Isaac Mock and Abby Smith. Two Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Dog: Romeo.
He was preceded in death by his son: Michael L. Smith. Parents: William Earl & Anna Smith. Brother: James Smith. Sister: Louise Trick.
Services will be Saturday, December 23, 2006 at 11:30 AM, at East Lynn Christian Church; 522 E. 53rd Street; Anderson, with Dr. Sam K.Young officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson.
Visitation will be from 4-8:00 PM on Friday, December 22, 2006 at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel; 200 W. 53rd Street; Anderson.
A. Masonic Lodge Service will be at 7:00 PM Friday.
