He was born in Norwood, Mass., Nov. 17, 1924, son of Sigurd and Marie (Olsen) Andersen. He graduated from South Boston High School and went on to attend Northeastern University in Boston.
He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served in the South Pacific on the USS Canberra, a guided missile cruiser. This ship went on to receive seven battle stars for its service to the American cause during the war.
Mr. Andersen had lived in South Boston, Mass., Norwood, Mass., Dedham, Mass., Richmond, Va., and back to Dedham, prior to moving to Keene in 1967.
Prior to his retirement, he had worked at Peerless Insurance in Keene and was the manager in the Loss Control Department. After his retirement, he drove for Thomas Transportation for 11 years.
He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Keene.
Mr. Andersen was a past president of the N.H. Safety Council, where he was the first instructor of the Defensive Driving School. In his earlier years, he had worked with the Cub Scouts.
He enjoyed people and being around them. He enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Burial will be held in Monadnock View Cemetery in West Keene.
