Anna Marie (Fowler) Clark, 87, of Baldwin City, Kansas passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Vintage Park of Osawatomie, KS.

Anna was born August 23, 1933 in Vinland, KS, the daughter of John Fowler and Opal (Randel) Fowler. She grew up in the Vinland Valley area and graduated as Valedictorian from Vinland High School with the class of 1951.

Anna was united in marriage to Lewis Clark in Visalia, California in 1954. They shared over 35 years of loving marriage up to Lewis’s death in 1989.

Anna was a tireless worker. In her youth she worked at Audra’s Cafe as a waitress and kitchen help. After she was married and moved to California she worked at the Federal Exchange and had many adventures with her husband, friends and family. They eventually moved back to Kansas and worked as a commercial cleaner for several businesses in Baldwin City including the Methodist Church, Baldwin State Bank, the Post Office and Dr. Ray Jones office at night as well as having a full time residential cleaning service during the days and a professional wall paper worker as a side business. She and husband, Lewis, purchased Clark’s Cleaners in Baldwin City in 1979 and in 1987 they purchased Royal Cleaners in Ottawa, KS. After the cleaners selling the cleaners in Ottawa she bought and opened Ann’s Dairy Diner in Wellsville. The success was so great that she was encouraged to open a larger restaurant across the street and a block down. This was Ann’s Family Dining. She a later was also a co-owner in Allen County Cleaners with her daughter in Iola, KS. Anna embraced being an entrepreneur.

When Anna wasn’t loving on her grandkids, she could be found watching the news, tending to her garden and flowers, or taking her Boston Terrier, Checkers, to Forrest Park to watch him chase squirrels.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Joanne Fowler and Mary Ellen Berger.

Anna is survived by her daughter, Lori Stottlemire, Westminster, CO; a granddaughter, Nicki Hamilton, Fresno, CA; two grandsons, Mitchell Rogers, Garnett, KS, and Ryan Rogers, Osawatomie, KS; four great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Everett, Warren, and Liberty; a brother, Richard Fowler, Lawrence, KS; and a sister, Erma Fowler Martin, Baldwin City, KS.
