Barbara L. Bockmon, 87, of Georgetown, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2013. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2013 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH 35, Georgetown, TX. A service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at 2pm at First Baptist Church of Jarrell, 110 W. Avenue G, Jarrell, TX 76537 with Rev. Max Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Berry Creek Cemetery in Georgetown, TX.

Mrs. Bockmon was born on February 28, 1926 in Orange, Texas to Howard and Audrey (Hubert) Markwith. In January of 1955, she married the love of her life, Rex A. Bockmon, to whom she was married for over 40 years until his passing in 1996. She was a devoted Christian and a member of First Baptist Church in Jarrell, and rarely missed the regular senior luncheons. She lived her entire life in and around Texas, working in retail and as a dental lab technician after attending Texas State Technical Institute until her retirement. While raising her children, she stayed busy participating with her girls in Girl Scout and Campfire Girls activities in addition to gardening in her spare time.

Mrs. Bockmon is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Gerald Flowers; husband Rex A. Bockmon, Jr.; son, Thomas Flowers; and sister, Eloise Markwith.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory: daughter, Lollie Raetzsch (Tom) of Columbus; daughter, Ada Bockmon-Ross of Smithville; daughter, Jeanette Bockmon of Georgetown; daughter, Rexine Davis (Bill) of Hawley; son, John Bockmon (Robin) of Round Rock; daughter, Melissa Fox (Jim) of Leander; 17 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many other loving family and friends.
