Patrick Caton, 79
Retired Engineer on Pennsylvania Railroad

Patrick Caton, 79, of 311A Mercer St., Phillipsburg, died at 12:15 p.m. yesterday at his home. He was ill since Sunday.

Mr. Caton was a retired engineer on the Pennsylvania Railroad. He retired in 1948 after 36 years service with the railroad.

Born in Phillipsburg, he was a son of the late Philip B. and Johanna Sheehan Caton.

He was a member of Sts. Philip and James Catholic Church, Phillipsburg.

Surviving are four sons, Joseph, Edward, Philip and Thomas, all of Phillipsburg: five daughters, Miss Margaret Caton New York City; Mrs. Alfred Lynch, Phillipsburg; Mrs. George Desesso, Peapack, NJ; Mrs. Frederick Smith, North Tonawanda, NY and Mrs William Rumold, Fort Huachuca, Ariz.: a sister, Miss Sue Caton, Phillipsburg, and 13 grandchildren. His wife, the former Margaret Walsh, died before him.

The funeral will be held at 8:15 a.m. Saturday at the Doyle Funeral Home, Phillipsburg, followed by a requiem High Mass at 9 a.m. in Sts. Philip and James Church.

A Requiem High Mass for Patrick Caton, 79, of 311A Mercer St., Phillipsburg, was celebrated this morning in Sts. Philip and James Catholic Church. Mr. Caton died Wednesday at his home.

The Rev. John Cook was the celebrant. Interment was in Sts. Philip and James Cemetery The Rev. Francis Crupi offered graveside prayers. The pallbearers were Joseplh Rak, James Lannan, Joseph Teleky, Hugh Smith, William Hutchings and Griger Baker.

The funeral was conducted from the Doyle Funeral Home, Phillipsburg.
