Judge Stafford
Of Muscatine
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA., —
District Judge C. R. Stafford, 66,
of Muscatine, of the seventh Iowa
district, died at a hospital here,
yesterday.
Judge Stafford came here about 10 days ago for an operation, he had been reported recovering,but suffered a relapse.
JUDGE Stafford was born in Keokuk Sept. 6, 1881, the son of C. L. and Mary Allen Stafford. His father for many years was president of Iowa Wesleyan college at Mt. Pleasant.
He received his bachelor of arts degree, from Iowa Wesleyan in 1900 and attended the University of
Chicago where he was granted a doctor of jurisprudence degree in l91l. He began practicing law in Muscatine that year.
He served as Muscatine county attorney for five terms and as county treasurer for one term.
During World War I Stafford served as a captain in the army, and was discharged in February, 1910 [?]. In 1921 he married Lucile Narvis of Muscatine.
HE WAS a member of the Muscatine county and State Bar associations, BPOE [Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks] and the Masonic order.
