John H. Gray and his wife Ann (Calhoun) Gray moved to Neodesha in 1872 and lived on a farm 2 miles north of town for several years. John Gray was one of the most honored citizens of Wilson County; was elected Mayor 1875; Postmaster 1890-94; County Commissioner 5 terms 1877, 1880, 1895, 1898, and 1901; Chairman of the Board.
