Funeral services for George Alvah Merritt, who died Friday at Maryland General hospital, were conducted yesterday from the home of his parents, Mr. & Mrs. George W. Merritt, on the North Point Road, by the Masonic Lodge, of which he was a member. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Mr. Merritt 30 years old, had been a member of the Police Department for two years. Death followed an operation for appendicitis.

Surviving Mr. Merritt are his widow, Mrs. Minnie H, Merritt, a son, George Alvah Merritt, Jr. and a daughter, Marjorie, in addition to his parents. He is also survived by a brother, Thomas E. Merritt and four sisters, Mrs. Walter Graf, Mrs. Grant Diehm, Miss Katherine Merritt and Miss Eleanor Merritt.

Mr. Merritt's home was at 2615 East Fayette Street.
