Obituary for Mrs Joyce Bayer
Mrs. Joyce Fay Bayer, 89, of La Porte, Indiana, died Thursday September 13, 2012 at Golden Living Center Fountainview.
She was born December 1, 1922 in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of Joseph McMahon and Maisie (Schire) McMahon.
Joyce was a 1941 graduate of LaPorte High School. She had worked at Eastside Garage and for American Home Foods, retiring in 1983. She was a life long member of the Grace Baptist Church and a member of the Class of 1941 Breakfast Club. Joyce was also a Brownie leader. She enjoyed crocheting, and especially loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother.
On June 16, 1945, in LaPorte, IN, she married Joseph Leonard Bayer who preceded in death August 26, 1998.
She is survived by her 2 daughters - Darlene (family member, Victor Moore) Jackson of Clarksville, TN, Marlene (Thomas) Hayes of Schaumburg, IL; 2 sons - Joseph (Patricia) Bayer of La Porte, IN, James (Rita) Bayer of La Porte, IN; 9 grandchildren - Kris Bayer, Anthoney Bayer, Scott Bayer, Jeff Bayer, Michael Bayer, Gynell West, Tom Hayes, Kim Gurak, Philip Hayes; 5 great grandchildren - Joseph Bayer, Miles Bayer, Graham Bayer, Charlie West, Jessica Bayer.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two infant children, Thomas and Karlene.
Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Monday, September 17, 2012 from 9:30 am, until time of service. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Monday September 17, 2012 at 11:30 am with Pastor Larry Berger officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
