Barbara was born February 19, 1932 in Anderson, IN, to the late James and Florence Conner.
She graduated from Pendleton Heights High School and attended Ball State University and Indiana University. Barbara was a homemaker and also worked in the offices of Ball State University Teachers College and Indiana University and had worked as a receptionist at the Anderson Herald Bulletin.
She was a long time member of the Yorktown United Methodist Church and was currently a member of the Whiteland Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, Indiana State Teacher's Association, and the Ball State University Wives, in addition to various philanthropic activities. Barbara loved spending time with her family and enjoyed attending her grandchildren's activities.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Pamela Price (husband-Jeffrey) of Greenwood; sister, Joanna Banks of Anderson; brother, Harold "Peck" Conner (husband-Ellen) of Union City, IN; sister-in-law, Joanna Somers of Pendleton; five grandchildren, Lauren Price, Nicholas Price, Jackson Price, Graham Highley, and April Highley; two great-grandchildren, Daymon Highley and Emma Highley; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Barbara was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. Walter Somers in 1997; second husband, Franklin "Pete" Crosley in 2011; a daughter, Wendy Highley; sister, Ruby Crosley; and three brothers, Frances Conner, James Conner, and Thomas Conner.
A funeral service to celebrate Barbara's life will be 1 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2012 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie, with Pastor Cindy Osgood officiating. Entombment will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park Mausoleum. Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be given in memory of Barbara to the Yorktown United Methodist Church, Whiteland United Methodist Church, or the St. Francis Hospice House with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
