FREDERICK KASTEN OF HOYLETON, DIES
Frederick W. Kasten, a retired farmer of Hoyleton Township passed away this morning at five o'clock at his home west of Hoyleton, from complications of diseases and after being bedfast for two weeks.
Mr. Kasten was born in Eichsen, Germany, on March 23, 1853 and was aged seventy-eight years, eleven months and eighteen days. He came to this country with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kasten when he was nine years old and was raised on a farm near Hoyleton. He was married at New Minden on November 2, 1876 to Miss Fredericka Droste who preceded him in death about a year ago. He is survived by five sons, Edward Kasten of R. R. No. 3 of Centralia; Martin Kasten of R. R. No. 5, Centralia; Fred C. Kasten of near Nashville; Otto Kasten of Nashville, and Arthur Kasten, who resides at home, and four daughters, Mrs. Ernest Auldag, of Hoyleton; Mrs. William Weihe of near Posey; Mrs. William Niemann of New Minden, and Mrs. Henry Beckmeyer of Hoyleton, also one sister survives, Mrs. Christ. Crought of New Minden, seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Sunday, March 13, at two o'clock following a short service at 1:30 at the home, at St. John's Lutheran Church at New Minden, of which he has been a member since childhood. Interment will be made at St. John's Cemetery at New Minden.
