Funeral service for Marilyne Applegate, 61, Pine Grove Street, DeLand, who died April 30, 2008, at her residence, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel, with David Meyer officiating. Burial will be at Pinehurst Cemetery, DeLeon Springs. Calling hours are from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today (Friday) at the Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home.

Mrs. Applegate was born July 24, 1946, in Napa, Calif., and moved to this area in 1986 from Orlando, Fla. She was a member of the DeLeon Springs Christian Church. She enjoyed helping other people, especially through the local cancer support group. She also enjoyed crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Neal Applegate in 1984.

Survivors include her husband, Charles L. Applegate, DeLand; sons, Kenneth Applegate, Loveland, Ohio, Brian Applegate, DeLand; stepsons, Terry Applegate, DeLand, Anthony Applegate, Edgewater, and Charles Applegate, Daytona Beach; daughter, Elizabeth Heimall, Orlando; mother, Hazel Hudson, DeLand; brothers, Michael Gaither, Oregon, Brice Gaither, DeLand, Timothy Scott Gaither, Oregon; sister, Ann Barnes, California; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
