Bessie Pearl Seibert was one of seven children of Daniel Adam Seibert (1865-1955) and Eva Belle Chamberlain (1869-1946). In 1908 Bessie married Edward Joseph Cronk Bell (1884-1930) in Chicago. Edward Bell was from England, and was a talented stonemason in Chicago. Family lore says in stepped back to admire his work and fell to his death in 1930.

They had five children together:
Constance Ellen Bell Derby 1910 – 2002
Helen Virginia Bell Seyferlich 1917 – 1997
Edward James "Boy" Bell 1919 – 1924
William joseph Bell 1928 – 1980
Bette Bell Nesbitt 1930 - 2004
