Velma D. Henry, 83, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away at 9:00 PM, Saturday, June 5th, at her residence. Velma was born in Cincinnati, OH on May 26, 1927, a daughter of the late Emma Lee (Sparks) and John Samuel Field. On Nov. 22, 1951 she married Linton Henry, who died on Nov. 29, 1993. She attended the Rising Sun Church of Christ. She worked as a school bus driver for Western Transportation in Cincinnati, OH. She also worked as a cook for Quercus Grove School. Velma was also a homemaker and a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed playing bingo.

Velma is survived by a daughter, Arphie Arlene "Tina" (Bud) Smith, of East Enterprise, IN; a son,John (Linda) Cann II, of East Enterprise, IN;

She is also survived by grandchildren; Emma Ruth Bolton Hodge & Joseph of East Enterprise, IN, Michael Matthew Marsh (Catrina) of Germany, James Linton Smith (Rita) of East Enterprise, John Cann III of East Enterprise, Tina Rae Lyn Henry of Greensburg, IN & Brian Levell of East Enterprise; by Great Grandchildren; Zachary, Amanda & Jacob Bolton, Jocelyn & Trevor Hodge, Ashely, Tanner, & Jenna Marsh, Courtney & Peyton Cann.

Velma is also survived by a sister, Edna Brown, of Maysville, KY. a brother, Ray Field, of Lawrenceburg, IN;

Velma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and by a son, Linton Ray Henry, and by brothers, George, Jack, and Dudley Field, and by sisters, Ella Mae Shields and Alma Slone.

Funeral service at Markland Funeral Home, Rising Sun, IN, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 9th, with Brother Greg Matthew officiating. Friends are invited to call Tuesday 5-8 PM. at Markland Funeral Home. Interment at New Liberty Cemetery in East Enterprise, IN. Family request donations to American Cancer Society
