Mary’s father had a first cousin who arrived in Jefferson, Indiana in 1844. That marked the beginning of the arrival of Scholle’s that Mary was related to. They came as they could afford thru at least 1885. Mary arrived in 1871 with her mother (her father died in Germany a couple of years earlier). Mary was one of at least seven daughters. One sister died in Germany, but her children came to the US with their father and stepmother. Another sister died childless in Germany. The remaining five sisters came to the USA. Of that five, one died shortly after arriving, her child dying later and that daughter's husband married his deceased wife's younger sister. Mary probably had two or three more siblings as well, and they seem not to have come to the US.
