Mr. Lewark was born in Madison county, Indiana, June 6, 1848, and died at Spencer Wednesday, February 10,1915. He grew to manhood in the same locality where he was born. He was married to Catherine Richwine about 1869. To them were born two children A.W. and O.F. Lewark, both of Spencer. The wife died about 1883. He was married a second time leaving one daughter by the second wife Mrs. Pearl Lenhart near Logansport, Indiana.

He came to Iowa about eleven years ago, the greater part of which time he has lived in Spencer, spending the last six years with his son, A. W. , at whose home he died after a two weeks illness with pneumonia. The funeral was held at the home Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Conducted by Rev. J. O. Thrush. He became a Christian in early manhood and was accustomed to attend the Friend's church here when they had services. He was a faithful and kind father and will be missed in the home circle where he received devoted care during his last years.

The body was laid to rest at Riverside to sleep till night shall be no more.

The sons wish to express through the News their hearty appreciation of the kindness of their many friends including the Woodmen and Royal Neighbors In this time of their great sorrow.
