Passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by the love of his family on August 31, 2012, due to Pulmonary Fibrosis, at the age of 69.

Beloved husband of Margaret (nee Hanson) for 44 years. Proud and loving father of Paul (Sandra). Much loved and cherished grandpa of Liam, Alex, Nathan, and Isabel. John will be sadly missed by his extended family; Hank, Heather, Hannah, Ryan, Kayla, and André Nguyen. Dear brother of Raymond, David, Irene (Ted) Franchak, Mary Roth, Edna Richardson, Ruth (Bill) Cluthe, Jean (Eldon) Leis, Margaret (Dennis) Martin, Alice Seidel, Linda (Murray) Walz, Kathy (Mike) O'Reily, and brothers-in-law Ken (Patricia) Hanson and Gerry Litwiller. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Michael and Katherine (nee Erb), brothers Eldon and William, sisters Joan Litwiller and Shirley, and by his nephew and godchild Matthew Hanson.

John's greatest joy was his grandchildren. Our heartfelt thanks to all who provided outstanding and excellent care and compassion to John during his illness, including the Kitchener Waterloo Community Hospice and Palliative Care Team. Especially Dr. Keleher, Nurse Practitioner Sheila Gallinger, Case Manager Joan McCarthy, nurses Tara, Heather, Diane, Andrea, and Lasha, and hospice volunteer Colleen.

A very special thank-you to Dr. Borys, Father Lobsinger, and to our family and friends for all their prayers, love, and support during John's illness.

Friends are invited to share their memories of John with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Tuesday, September 4 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Parish Prayers will be held at 8:45 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 305 Laurentian Dr., Kitchener on Wednesday, September 5 at 11a.m.with the Rev. Gary Schlack as Celebrant. A reception will immediately follow.

Cremation and interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Kenilworth will take place at a later date.
