Dorothy (Barthel) Billmeyer, 85 year old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away on Saturday, August 25 at Bridgeway Estates in Little Falls, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 29 at 10:30 A.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie, MN with Fr. Joseph Herzing officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. Friends may gather from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN and from 8:30-10:00 A.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Dorothy H. (Barthel) Billmeyer was born June 24, 1927 in Holdingford, MN to the late Greger and Martha Hartung. She grew up in the Swanville, MN area. She was united in marriage to Otto Barthel on June 11, 1945 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN. The couple farmed in Swanville, MN until moving into Little Falls, MN in 1963. Otto died on January 20, 1970. Dorothy and Otto were married for 24 years. Dorothy worked at St. Otto's Care Center for one year. She worked as a nurse's assistant for 30 years at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls, MN. Before her retirement, she enjoyed her time as a rehabilitation aide. After her retirement from the Lutheran Care Center, Dorothy worked as a demo lady at Coborn's in Little Falls for eight years. Dorothy was united in marriage to Richard Billmeyer on May 31, 1975. The couple made their home for a short time in Freedhem, MN and eventually they moved back to Little Falls. The couple was married for 36 years. Richard died on January 17, 2012. Dorothy resided at the Bridgeway Estates in Little Falls, MN at the time of her death. She enjoyed making quilts and crocheting blankets for her children and grandchildren. Dorothy also enjoyed her flower gardens and playing cards with friends. Her greatest enjoyment was her time spent with family and friends. Dorothy was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, Holy Family Catholic Church and was very dedicated to the Rosary.

Dorothy will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dennis (Jeanette) Barthel of Luxemburg, MN, Helen (Harvey) Bloom of Randall, MN, Gerald (Johnnie) Barthel of Little Falls, MN, Karen (Roger) Harakel of Randall, MN, Donna (Brad) Beaty of Little Falls, MN, Rodney (Dahna) Barthel of Blaine, MN, Julie (Joe) Lauer of Sartell, MN, Faith (Vince) Pavkovich of Big Lake, MN, Paul (Nancy) Billmeyer of Rice, MN; sisters, Bernadette (Arnold) Sandborn of Princeton, MN, Rosella Puntsack of Minneapolis, MN; 40 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and 3 additional great-great-grandchildren on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Greger and Martha Hartung; her husbands, Otto Barthel and Richard Billmeyer; sons, Donald Barthel, Steven Billmeyer and Eugene Billmeyer; infant sister, Elizabeth Hartung; great-great-granddaughter, Bailey Gosiak; sister, Evelyn Skluzacek and a brother, Edward Puntsack.
