BLACKBURN Howard E., 92, of Crittenden, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Edgewood, KY. He was the son of the late Robert Lincoln and Mary Ruth Vest Blackburn. He worked for Delta Airlines as a load planner for twenty five years; was a store owner, real estate agent and farmer. He was a Purple Heart recipient in the US Army during WWII; a member of the Crittenden Baptist Church and the Crittenden-Dry Ridge F&AM Lodge #694. He is survived by his wife of seventy one years, Christine Gouge Blackburn of Crittenden; a sister, Mary Eleanor Day of York, PA and a granddaughter, Anna Hatcher of Burlington. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Ann Hatcher in 2007. Visitation will be 5-8pm Wednesday with Masonic Service at 8pm and funeral services at 11am, Thursday, August 23rd at the Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, 132 South Main St., Crittenden, KY 41035. Burial will be in the Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge, KY. Memorials are suggested to the Crittenden Baptist Church, P.O. Box 132, Crittenden, KY 41030 or the Gideons, P.O. Box 222, Williamstown, KY 41097.
