MCLEANSVILLE — Viola Shaw Anderson, 98, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2009, at Duke University Medical Center.
An 11 a.m. funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 29, at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, 5120 Burlington Road, with Rev. Mike Goode officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
An Alamance County native, Viola was born December 2, 1910, the daughter of G.K. and Annie Aldred Shaw. She was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents preceding her in death were her husband, Horbert K. Anderson, six brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by her loving daughter, Marie A. Kinney of Durham; two grandsons, Dr. Kyle W. Kinney and wife, Natalie, of Augusta, Ga., and K. Michael Kinney and wife, Glenda, of Wake Forest; three great- grandchildren, Kyle A. Kinney and wife, Jenny, of Columbia, S.C., Michael Kinney of Kansas City, Mo., and Ashley Kinney of Augusta, Ga., and five great-great- grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. Wednesday morning at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, 5120 Burlington Road, Greensboro, NC 27405.
The Anderson family is being served Forbis & Dick North Elm Chapel.
