JOHN BOST
The body of Corp. John Wilfred Bost, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Wilfred Bost,
Sr., 1809 Fernwood Ave., has been returned for services and reburial.
Corporal Bost, who served 18 months with the marine corps in the South
Pacific, was killed in action on New Britain, Jan. 7, 1944. He was 20.
Born in Continental, O., he had lived in the Toledo area 17 years.
He was honorary captain of the Napoleon, O., championship high school
football team and a 4-letter athlete. He enlisted Jan. 30, 1942, while a high
school senior.
He was awarded the Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation, Victory Medal
and two bronze stars.
Also surviving are grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Julian Bost, Holgate, O., and
John King, Continental, O.
The Rev. William Bain, pastor of East Broadway Church of God, will conduct
services at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the H.H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home. Burial will
be in Forest Hills Cemetery, Napoleon.
The 8th Battalion, USMCR, and Capt. Bobby Burns unit, Marine Corps League,
will post a honor guard. Bert G. Taylor Post, American Legion, and the Napoleon
VFW post will provide a detail for the cemetery rites.
