Hamlet was a stray neighborhood cat whom I grew attached to over the years. He was a large cat, over 20 pounds, and had a sweet disposition. He was so cute. He looked much like a sow-belly pig. Though he was an outside cat, in 2010, I brought him and another stray in for the winter.

When spring arrived in 2010, I put him outside and regret that I did as he vanished the same day. We looked for him without success. I believe that a neighborhood dog got him as new neighbors had just moved in and their dog kept getting loose. I believe they disposed of his body. Hamlet never went far, always stayed on the porch, and he would have returned if he could have. Though his fate remains a mystery, I know in my heart that he passed away.

He is greatly missed.
