Mr. Austin was born March 19, 1931, to the late John Grady and Edna Craft Austin in Mize. He was a member of South Side Assembly of God church. Mr. Austin served his country in the 82nd Air Borne Division of the United States Army.
Survivors include: his wife, Vera Jacobs Austin; sons, Kenneth Austin of Lakeland, Fla., and Dean Austin of Clinton; daughters, Susan Furr of Baton Rouge, La., Vickie Johnson of Pearl, Mary Lewis and Paula Thomas of Brandon; brothers, Chuck Austin of North Carolina, Rev. Hilton Austin of Columbia, John Grady Austin of Texas and Jack Austin of Brandon; and one sister, Judy Fortenberry of Pearl; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
