Della Gwynne received her advanced education at George Peabody College in Nashville, Tenn. and taught fourth grade for 30 years in Sheffield, Ala. She was an active member of Sheffield First United Methodist Church and the 20th Century Club. She enjoyed playing bridge, but her primary interest was traveling around the world with her sisters. She was a supporter of the arts in the Sheffield, Tuscumbia and Muscle Shoals area. She read her Bible daily and put all her trust in the Lord. She and her friend, Sarah, went out for lunch and shopping nearly every day. She was always happy, bright and alert and loved to relate family stories. She loved sweets and her last meal was cookies, candy and coffee.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar, Tenn. with interment following in Melrose Cemetery in Whiteville. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. before the service.
