Harvey F. Strouf, age 99, of Laurel Grove Assisted Living Center, Manitowoc,
passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2007, after a short illness.
Harvey was born on Sept. 7, 1907, in the town of Gibson, Manitowoc County, son
of the late Adolph and Mary (Kapitan) Strouf. He was a graduate of the class of
1924 from Mishicot High School and attended Manitowoc Business College and
Milwaukee School of Engineering. He married the former Myrtle L. Baetz at
Huilsburg, on Dec. 16, 1933.
At the age of 25, he was elected to the office of Clerk of Circuit Court of
Manitowoc County, in Nov. of 1932. He retained that office for 40 years, still
the longest tenure in the state, until his retirement on Jan. 1, 1973. During
his tenure in office, he was president of the Clerk of Courts Association,
president of the Joint Association of Clerk of Courts, County Treasurers and
Register of Deeds for the state of Wisconsin. He also served as president of
the Knights of Pythias and secretary of the Manitowoc County Easter Seal Society.
He was president of the Manitowoc Democratic Party. Mr. Strouf was a member of
St. John's United Church of Christ. He served on the church council as president,
vice-president, secretary and treasurer, and was a member of the Gideons
International Bible Society. He was a charter member of the following associations:
Manitowoc Junior Chamber of Commerce, United Commercial Travelers and Travel
Protective Association, Manitowoc County Employee Credit Union and Mishicot High
School Alumnae Association Scholarship Fund.

He was preceded in death by three brothers; two sisters; and a nephew.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at St. John's
United Church of Christ, 15th and Marshall St., Manitowoc. The Rev. Jim Klein will
officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may
call at church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
Memorials may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, the Gideon Bible Society,
or Laurel Grove Assisted Living Center/Shady Lane Nursing Care Center.
The Reinbold & Pfeffer Funeral Home of Manitowoc is serving the Strouf family.
