JOHN G. STRATHEARN (d. 1972)

John Strathearn, 78, a former Manitowoc resident, died Tuesday at Appleton
Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church,
Manitowoc. The Rev. Peter Haag will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc. Military graveside services will be conducted by the
American Legion Drews Bleser Post No. 88.
Mr. Strathearn was born July 11, 1893, at Kaukauna, son of the late John A.
and Sophie Nelson Strathearn. He attended Kaukauna schools and was graduated
with the Class of 1913. He also attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison,
taking an agricultural course. He married Hattie Glander July 4, 1925, at
Manitowoc. The couple resided in Manitowoc. He was a World War I veteran
serving as private with Co. B. 108th MPS in France from 1917 to 1919. He was
a rural mail carrier for 30 years retiring in 1962. He was a member of Grace
Lutheran Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Drews
Bleser Post No. 88.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Joan) Verkins of Appleton,
a sister, Miss Janet Strathearn, of Manitowoc and two grandchildren. A sister
and a brother preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 5 p.m. Thursday and
at the church Friday from noon until the time of service.
