Wallace Thomas BowdenClarksville, MI. Wallace Thomas Bowden completed his journey of faith early Wednesday morning. Wally was born September 22, 1919 in Lansing, MI, the second child of Robert and Elizabeth (Fleming) Bowden. He was raised in Lansing, graduating from Eastern High School and moving on to study engineering at Michigan State. He served in the United State Army in World War II earning a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart while participating in the Luzon Offensive liberating the Philippines. He was also the Chaplin's assistant, ministering to his fellow soldiers in their time of need. On November 25, 1950 Wally married Margaret McDerby of Nashville, MI. For fifty-one years they shared life together living in Lansing, Morrison Lake (Clarksville) and Bibleville (McClaren, TX). They raised two children Brent, of Morrison Lake and Lorie Hillman of Fulton, N.Y. He was a product engineer for Oldsmobile for twenty-six years, retiring in 1976. The family attended South Baptist Church where Wally alternately served as a Trustee, Deacon and Boy's Club leader. In retirement they divided their time between Morrison Lake and Texas. Over the years at Clarksville Bible Church he taught Sunday school, was active in pastoral visitation and participated in the men's ministry. In Texas, they both helped in the ministry of Bibleville and Rio Grande Bible Institute. Wally was preceded in death by his wife Margaret; his brothers Robert, John, David and Frank; his sister Martha and his grandchildren Ryan Pawlikowski, Matthew Bowden and Jennifer Bowden. He is survived by his sister Agnes Cliffe of Upland, CA; son Brent (Joyce); daughter Lorie; grandchildren Greg, Michelle Cole (Justin), Nicole Santimaw (Ben) and Brad; five great-grandchildren Haley, Annabelle, Owen, Thomas and Liana. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday, Oct 28, 2011, at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, DeWitt Chapel, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt, MI with Brent Bowden and Pastor Tim Bateman of Clarksville Bible Church officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct 27, from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Chapel.age 92
