Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 11, 2012 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Ferdie "Fred" Benoit, age 59, who passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 3:23 p.m. at his residence in Lafayette.
The Rev. Allen Breaux will officiate at the services.
Mr. Benoit was employed with Lafayette Consolidated Government in community development and was also a self-employed carpenter. Mr. Benoit was a veteran of the military having served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.
Survivors include his wife, Penny Roger Benoit, of Lafayette; one son, Caleb Benoit of Lake Charles; two step sons, Kenneth Breaux and his wife, Melissa, of Scott and Chad Rodriguez and his wife, Amanda, of Church Point; two daughters, Kyla Menard of Lafayette and Taylor Elizabeth Benoit of Crowley; one brother, Terry Benoit and his wife, Connie, of Duson; three grandchildren, Grayson Michael Gass, Cali Menard and Kaden Kessler; five step grandchildren; Bryce Rodriquez, Alex Rodriquez, Chad Rodriquez, Gabriel Rodriquez and Lexus Breaux; and three sisters, Judy Gonzales and her husband, Mike, of New Iberia; Sandra Richard and her husband, Randy, of Sunset and Penny Cecil and her husband, Matt, of Carencro.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Effie Richard Benoit; one brother, Merlin Benoit; his maternal grandparents, Evelyn Thibodeaux Richard and her husband, Warren; and his paternal grandparents, Neta Menard Benoit and her husband, Ulysses.
Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Avenue Carencro, Louisiana was in charge of arrangements.
