Kathleen Herrin Rodgers, 93, died peacefully on July 25, 2012 in Greenville, SC with her loving family nearby. Her beloved husband of 73 years, H. Clarke Rodgers, Sr., predeceased her on April 9, 2012.

Kathleen was born in Senoia, GA on June 29, 1919, daughter of William Elmore Herrin and Katie L. Bell Herrin. She and her sisters, Marguerite, Nell and Jean grew up together in the wonderful environment that life in a small, Georgia town offered. This upbringing affected her whole outlook on life in a very positive manner. When she was a young woman she moved to Atlanta where she attended Draughon's Business School.

Once she completed school, Kathleen became secretary to Ivan Allen, Jr., who would later become Mayor of Atlanta. However, the most significant part of her move to Atlanta was meeting the love of her life, Clarke Rodgers, to whom she devoted herself. They settled in Atlanta to raise their children. Kathleen participated actively in every school, church and garden club activity that came along.

In the 1960s she happily moved to Greenville, SC when her husband was transferred with J.M. Tull Co., and thoroughly enjoyed the many opportunities there. They returned to Georgia and moved to Dunwoody where she and Clarke were active members of the St. James Methodist Church and Tull's TREC Club. She also enjoyed the Wood Valley Garden Club for many years.

Kathleen is survived by her son, H. Clarke Rodgers, Jr. and daughter-in-law Maria of Dunwoody GA; daughter Lynne R. Hannon of Greenville SC; grandchildren Tracey, David (Leslie) and Steve (Christie) Hannon of Greenville SC; Clarke M. Rodgers of Charlotte NC; great-grandchildren Ashley, Taylor, Jake, Beau, Steven, Olivia and Ali Hannon, all of Greenville SC; sister Jean H. Adams of St. Augustine FL; sisters-in-law Leila Mae R. Vaughn of Gray GA; Mildred R. Thurman of Atlanta GA as well as many nephews, nieces and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Buncombe Street Methodist Church in Greenville on Monday, July 30 at 11 AM in the Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Atlanta Community Food Bank www.ACFB.org or to a charity of choice.

A private burial will be held at the Senoia City Cemetery, Senoia GA. Arrangements made by Cremation Society Funeral Homes of SC. Published in The Greenville News on July 27, 2012
