Residing in Wilmington, N.C., she died peacefully on at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center in Wilmington, N.C., after a long and debilitating illness.

She was born in Port Rexton, Newfound-land, Canada, the daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude Newhook.

She was married for 37 years to Dr. Walter C. Baldwin Jr., a dentist, who had died on Aug. 4, 1977.

Minnie began her professional career as a registered nurse at Notre Dame Bay Memorial Hospital in Twillingate, Newfoundland, Canada, where she met and married a young dental resident, Walter C. Baldwin, from Philadelphia, Pa. Subsequently, they moved to Milton, Pa., where they raised a family and continued their careers. Minnie spent most of her professional career as a pediatric nurse at Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg. Her retirement in 1981 brought her to Wilmington, N.C.

Surviving are one daughter, Barbara Stapleton of Wilmington, N.C.; four sons, Walter C. Baldwin III of Panama City, Fla., Bruce A. Baldwin of Wilmington, N.C., Phillip R. Baldwin of Sterling, Va. and David C. Baldwin of Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Ivany of St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Fred J. Newhook; and one granddaughter, Alicia Baldwin.
