Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, November 7th with Janyce's family present to greet friends from 5:30 to 6:30 pm at Miller Funeral Home, 13th and Main, in Sioux Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, November 8th at Miller Funeral Home, with private family interment at the Hendricks Cemetery in Hendricks, Minnesota.

Janyce Avis Bylander-Schmitt was born with her twin sister, Joyce Mavis, on June 15, 1935, to Peter and Pearl Kosberg of Hendricks, MN. They moved to Sioux Falls later with their parents where she attended Washington High School.

Janyce was united in marriage with Donald F. Bylander on April 29 1954. They lived in Sioux Falls and later had a weekend home at Big Stone Lake where many memories were made.

"Grandma Jan" operated a daycare in her home for many years and helped raise a lot of kids. When she babysat for you…"YOU worked for her" and she would usually tell you "your" responsibilities when you took your children home. But she truly loved her daycare kids.

In her spare time, Janyce was usually painting a room or rearranging furniture and cleaning. You never wanted to come home in the dark for fear you would trip over furniture. Janyce was always busy with something or helping someone else out.

Janyce and Alvin G. Schmitt were united in marriage on May 9, 1997, and made their home in Sioux Falls. In October 1998, they moved to Hendricks, MN where they currently reside.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Alvin; three sons, Donald Dave (Donice) of Colorado Springs, CO, Kim Bernard "Scooter" (and fiancé Lori Rokusek) of Turkey Ridge, SD, Thomas Peter (Barbara) of Big Stone Lake, SD; one daughter, Tamara Joyce (Wayne) Lundquist of Hartford, SD; six grandchildren, Zain Thomas (Terra) Bylander, Trevor Thomas (Kayla) Bylander, Breanna Marie Bylander, DeAnna Rochelle Bylander, Derek Lee Bylander and Olivia Pearl Lundquist. Janyce was known to her four great-grandchildren as "Grandma G G" and they are, Alexis Kaye Bylander, Carter Thomas Bylander, Trey Thomas Bylander and Zachary Bryan Bylander. Janyce is also survived by her siblings, twin sister, Joyce English, Anchorage, AK, Rae Christensen, Missoula, MT, Lillian (Ted) Folkerts, Vancouver, WA, Peder Kosberg, Mankato, MN, and Anne Rockman, Marshall, MN.

Janyce was preceded in death by her parents, older brother, Harvey Kosberg, and her husband, Donald F. Bylander.
