Florence Berg, of Prescott, passed away July 28, 2012. She was born in Queens, N.Y., to John and Helen Rooney.

Florence was a resident of the Peridot where she made many friends and was treated kindly. She, after being widowed, attended Yavapai Community College and graduated in 1998, at the age of 74, with high honors. At the graduation ceremony, Florence delivered an inspirational speech that earned her a standing ovation. She also served as a legislative intern for the House of Representatives in Phoenix at the age of 76.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Henry J. Berg Jr., in 1990. She is survived by her four children, daughters, Elena M. Atwill and Joan H. Elko; and sons, Michael D. Berg and Daniel P. Berg. Florence will be sadly missed by her six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A Celebration of Florence's life funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury St., Prescott, Ariz. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, Ariz.
