He was born Oct. 6, 1927, in Rice county, the son of Johnny and Clara Massey McAllister. A lifetime Nickerson resident, he had retired as the head of maintenance and plumber for Hutchinson USD 308 Schools, and had worked for Nickerson USD 309 Schools. He had also been a dairy farmer.
He belonged to Nickerson United Methodist Church, where he had served on the Church Board, Nickerson Woodcarvers, and Loyal Order of Moose No. 982, Hutchinson.
On Aug. 15, 1948, he married Betty R. Faulkerson at Fort Collins, Colo. She died Oct. 24, 2000.
Survivors include: two sons, Mike, South Hutchinson, and Stan McAllister, Hutchinson; three brothers, Clifford and Elton, both of Nickerson and Mont, Dodge City; a sister, Marceline Johanning, Nickerson; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul "Pete" McAllister, and a grandson, Scott.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Linda Toms presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, all at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Reno County or the Nickerson UMC, both in care of the mortuary.
