Born on Nov. 7, 1949, in Roaring Spring, he was a son of the late Harry J. Yingling and Dorothy (Hockenberry) McKinley.
He is survived by two sons, Brian Yingling of Bedford and Brent Yingling of Manns Choice; daughter, Tera Yingling of New Paris; brother, Kelly Yingling of Bedford; grandchildren: Cody, Megan, Cole, Dalton, Jordan and Derrick; and special friend Darlette Akers.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bernard "Bernie" W. Smith Jr.
Terry was a 1967 graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School. He served in the Vietnam War in 1970, as an Army Specialist 4, then went into the U.S. Army Reserve until 1975. He was a member of the Bedford Moose, Bedford American Legion, and a lifetime member of the Pleasantville VFW Post 9219. He was the owner of Bedford Glass and Screen and also drove truck for Wilson Freight.
Terry loved reading, crossword puzzles, telling stories and spending time with his family and friends. He truly enjoyed life, often stating "Life Is Good." He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 27, and from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home, Alum Bank, with Pastor Jim Neatrour officiating.
Military rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
Interment will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Terry Yinglings' honor may be made to Veterans of Foreign War.
