Betty J. Lewis of Hamburg, IA passed away on Monday, July 9, 2012 at her home at the age of 79 years 1 month 8 days.
Betty was born May 31, 1933 in Liberty, MO; the daughter of Phillip A. and Beulah C. (Boldra) Barrett. Her family later moved to Hamburg and she graduated from the Hamburg High School with the Class of 1951.
She was united in marriage to Daw Raymond Lewis on May 16, 1951 at the Hamburg Baptist Church. He preceded her in death on January 14, 1987.
She worked at Mutual of Omaha Insurance Co. as the print shop manager for some 35 years before retiring in 1988. She was a member of Christian leadership in Omaha while living there.
She is survived by her sisters Ruby Stookey of West Des Moines, IA and P.J. Howell of Hamburg, IA; 12 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews; other family and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Billy Barret on June 14, 2002.
