Margaret was the daughter of Carlos T. McCarty and Margaret Jane Radcliff McCarty. On 21 July 1934, Margaret McCarty and John Force were married in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution.

MARGARET FORCE TAKEN BY DEATH; RITES HELD SUNDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Force, age 87, of Shoals, were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 19th, at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home, in Shoals, with Rev. Howard Bell officiating.

Music was provided by organist Clara Smith and soloist, Carol Richer.

Pallbearers were Harold Force, Michelle Force, Tim Force, Jeff Force, Greg Force, Carlos Force and David Force. Burial was made in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Force died at 2:50 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 1992, at the Loogootee Nursing Center. She had been ill two months, but had only been at the nursing center three days.

She was born January 5, 1905, in Martin County, to the late Carlos T. and Margaret (Radcliffe) McCarty. She married John T. Force in 1934 in New Orleans, Louisiana, and he died January 15, 1990.

Mrs. Force was a retired high school teacher, having taught in Shoals, Loogootee, Jasper, Tennessee and Chicago, Illinois. She retired in 1979 from J.T. Force Contractor.

She was a member of the Shoals United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star No. 368, Daughters of American Revolution, the Martin County Historical Society, the Woman's Study Club, Town & Country Homemakers Club and Psi Iota Xi Sorority.

She was a graduate of Shoals High School, Class of 1992, and Indiana University in 1926.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Force, of Shoals, Charles Force, of Dunkirk, Maryland and James Force, of Alexandria, Virginia; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A brother, Charles McCarty, also preceded her in death.

Psi Iota Xi and Eastern Star held memorial services on Saturday evening at the funeral home.
