[Annie] Opal W. Ledford, 82, of Andrews, North Carolina, died Thursday, July 19, 2012, at her residence. A native of Fulton County, Georgia, she lived in Cherokee County since 1951. She was a graduate of West Fulton County High School in Atlanta, Georgia. Opal retired after 25 years as a secretary with Andrews High School and also was owner of Ledford's Cleaners for more than 30 years. Opal was a member of the Andrews United Methodist Church for more than 60 years.

She had been selected to sing in the Southern Bell Choir in Atlanta in her early life. Opal was active with the Andrews Community Youth Players and the Andrews High School Band and Choral Programs.

She was the daughter of the late James Hiram "Jack" and Annie Blake Wilbanks [Boling] and wife of the late Frank Ledford, who died May 6, 2009. She also was preceded in death by brother, James Hiram "Jackie" Wilbanks, Jr.

Surviving are a daughter, Julie Ledford Aiken and husband, David of Andrews, NC; two sons, Gregory Frank Ledford of Albertville, AL, and Daniel Fowler Ledford and wife, Terri of Charleston, SC; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Pfister, Joey, Matthew, Justin, and Chelsey Ledford, and Juliana Aiken; and five great grandchildren.
