Lilly was born in Republic County, Kansas, on 7 Aug. 1870. Her name is recorded in Republic County in 1870, 1875, and 1880 censuses. She married a neighbor boy, Charles Leslie Hill, on 19 Aug 1890. They were married in Belleville, Republic County, Kansas. Charlie and Lilly had twin daughters (Della and Stella) and a son (Clarence.)

Lilly died of "catarrhl fever", according to the Belleville, KS, Telescope (17 Feb 1893 edition.) This issue of the Telescope states that Lilly was buried on the previous Sunday (12 Feb 1893). The date of death would presumably have been a couple of days earlier.

The Cuba, KS, Daylight (17 Feb 1893 edition) states that Lilly died on Feb. 15. The funeral procession which included 71 teams was one of the largest ever seen in this country, according to this report.

While the exact date of Lilly's death cannot be determined from these contemporary accounts, they agree that she died in February 1893.

Clarence Hill died on 27 Dec 1895. This date is based on a newspaper account (3 Jan 1896 Belleville, KS, Telescope.) He was buried on 28 Dec 1895 in the Willoughby Cemetery. He may be buried at his mother's feet, where a small uninscribed stone stands.
