CARTHAGE, Mo. —

Maurine Adele (Ainsworth) Comer passed away on July 15, 2012 at Mercy McCune-Brooks Hospital after a sudden illness.

She was a resident of St. Luke's Nursing Center.

Maurine was born Dec. 27, 1925 to the late Roy Ainsworth and Flossie Mae (Cline) Ainsworth. She was a lifelong resident of Carthage, Mo. Maurine married Robert E. "Cotton" Comer on March 3, 1953 in Bentonville, Ark.

Besides being a homemaker, she also worked for Red's Café and the C & W Café. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Elwood "Cotton" Comer; a son, Robert Edward Comer; two sisters, Mary Katherine Ainsworth, and Margaret Louise Krause; and by one brother, Roy Ainsworth.

She is survived by two brothers, Ronald Ainsworth, Neosho, Mo., and Richard Ainsworth, Seattle, Wash.; daughters, Pamela Perkins and her husband Gene of Woodland, Calif., Patrice Spruce and husband Dale of Carthage, Mo., Robin Gunter and husband Richard of Derby, Kan., and Cynthia Sundy and husband Rick of Carthage, Mo.; sons, Lamont Comer and wife Beverly of Carthage, Mo., James Comer and wife Carolyn of Carthage, Mo., Ronald Comer of Sarcoxie, Mo., and Daniel Comer and wife Arrona of Carthage, Mo.; and by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 19, 2012 from 6 – 7 p.m. at Knell Mortuary. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2012 graveside, with Fr. Steve Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Park Cemetery under direction of Knell Mortuary.
