Son of Thomas and Julia (Farrell) Cobb.

On 2 Jun 1857 Daniel Cobb emigrated with Thomas Cobb and Julia Farrell, his parents and siblings, from Ireland as shown on the passenger list of the Meridian of Boston, travelling from Liverpool.

On 12 Jul 1861 Daniel mustered into service with Company E of the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, being credited to the quota of Oxford, MA. He was 16 years old.

On 21 Oct 1861 Daniel was taken prisoner at The Battle of Ball's Bluff, Leesburg, Virginia.

On 30 Oct 1861 in "The Worcester Spy," Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts, Daniel Cobb was included, with 304 other men, among "The Killed Wounded and Missing of the Fifteenth Regiment," after Ball's Bluff. In 1862, Daniel was released from prison.

On 11 Apr 1863 in "The Webster Times", Webster, MA, Daniel Cobb was included in the published list of Oxford volunteers.

On 27 Jul 1864 Daniel ended military service with the 15th Massachusetts having completed his term of service.

On 22 Jan 1865 Daniel married Mary Moriarty, 24, daughter of James and Hannah (Mack) Moriarty, at Millbury, MA, in a first marriage for both. They had seven children, and all were still living in 1900.

He was enumerated in the 1890 US Federal census, Veteran's Schedule in Jun 1890 at Blackstone, Worcester County, Massachusetts, as having served in the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, Co. E.

On 28 Apr 1891 Daniel and Mary's daughter, Catherine Cobb married Alfred Daigneault at Blackstone, Worcester County, Massachusetts, in a first marriage for both. Catherine's husband is buried in RI, but her burial has not yet been found. (Mar 2017)

He was enumerated in the 1910 US Federal Census on 15 Apr 1910 at Soldiers' Home, Crest Avenue, Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, as Cobb, Daniel, inmate, 71, widower, b. Ireland of Irish parents, immig 1856.

He died on 8 Feb 1918 at Blackstone, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He was 73 years old.
