Albert Beverley Buckles

OREGON CITY, Or., Sept. 7- (Special) More than 300 persons attended funeral services today for Albert Beverley Buckles, prominent business man and ex-councilman of Oregon City. Many were here from out of the city, with the Rosemont Community club, of which Mr. buckles was treasurer and one of its most active members, and also Elk's Lodge No. 1189, of which he was a member, being largely represented. The Rev. W. T. Milliken, ex-pastor of the local Baptist church, now of Portland, and an old-time friend of the family, officiated.

Out of respect of Mr. Buckles a number of business houses and offices closed during the funeral.

Mr. Buckles died Wednesday at his home here. He was born March 13, 1872 at Fontany, Kan. He started for Oregon when he was about 18 years of age, settling in Willamette. On April 25, 1896, he married Miss Della Hathaway Batdorf of that place. For a number of years Mr. Buckles made his home in Willamette, later coming to Oregon City, where about 25 years ago he established a feed and grain business. This, a short time later, branched into a grocery and grain and feed business combined.

For four years Mr. Buckles served on the Oregon City council.

Mr. Buckles is survived by his widow, Mrs. Della Hathaway Buckles, of Oregon City; his daughter and son, Mrs. Wesley Milliken and Albert Buckles, of Willamette; his sisters and brother, Mrs. George Griffith of Oregon City, Mrs. J. A. Eickman of Portland, Mrs. Eva Force of Scott, Kan., A.F. buckles of Willamette.
