Carrie Berry, who had reached her 98th birthday on June 16th, went home to the Lord on June 24, 2006. Carrie, a native Texas, was born in Ennis, Texas in 1908. She came from a large, farming family and was one of 10 siblings, having 5 brothers and 4 sisters. Carrie and her family lived at various locations in Texas while she was a child. She attended high school in Ennis, later marring Clete 'Pete' Berry, in 1931. Pete, her husband of over 50 years, preceded her in death. Carrie and Pete lived most of their adult lives in Houston, Texas, moving back to Ennis after retirement. After Pete's death, Carrie moved to Mustang, Oklahoma to live with son Calvin, although she never relinquished her proud Texas heritage. Carrie was a dedicated homemaker and loved children. She raised two sons, Calvin Berry of Mustang, Oklahoma and Alvin Berry of San Antonio. She also had a substantial hand in raising six grand children and several of her great-grand children. Carrie was a devout Christian and a longtime member of the Methodist Church. While in Mustang, she regularly attended the Mustang Assembly of God. Carrie loved to talk and was a great story teller, regaling in tales of her childhood. In addition to her husband, Carrie was predeceased by 8 of her siblings and grandson Tim Berry. Carrie is survived by son, Calvin and his wife Orlena and Alvin, and his wife Norma; one sister, Eunie Fay Baker of Houston, Texas; grandsons, Dale Berry and wife Kim of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Randy Berry of San Antonio, Texas, Ron Berry and wife Gena of Huto, Texas and Rob Berry and wife Patti, of Mustang, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Sharon DeMarco and husband Greg, of Hooksett, New Hampshire, and 8 great grandchildren. The family invites friends for visitation on Monday, June 26, 2006, from 7:30 to 8:30 at Porter Loring North. SERVICE TUESDAY, JUNE 27, 2006 10:00 A. M. PORTER LORING NORTH CHAPEL With Rev. Jim Cline of Boerne, Texas officiating. Interment will follow in Cade Memorial Cemetery in Streetman, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of choice.
