He was a veteran of the US Air Force. He served the state of Alabama as an architect with JD Hughes Designers, the oldest home designers in the state.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Mildred Hughes. Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years, Glenda Hughes; children, Cindy Hughes Manasco, Johnny M. Hughes (Pam), Robert Gregory Hughes (Yvonne) and Jeffrey Allen Wynn; brothers, Richard S. Hughes (Patti) and David S. Vest; grandchildren, Misti Manasco, Steven Manasco, Leslie Deanna Hughes, Cara Leigh Hughes, Lauren Alexis Gill, Aaron Drew Gill, Fallon Cherie Hughes, Wyatt Hughes, Chanley Alexa Wynn, Todd Hughes, Adam Hughes and Holly Hughes.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 28, 2012 from 1 - 2 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with the funeral to follow at 2PM.
Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
