Was captured 27 May 1862 Battle of Hanover Court House, fought side by side with his brother Larkin C Barlow who was killed in that same battle.
Prisoner Exchanged 12 July 1862 at Aiken's Landing Aug 5, 1862
Died 23 Dec 1862 in Winder Hospital from Pneumonia and Typhoid

John B Barlow was the son of Braxton and Charlotte Carlton Barlow. He joined the 37th Nc as a bachelor.
He wa swounded at the Battle of Hanover Courthouse Va the same day his brother Larkin was killed.
He died of "disease" and complications
in a Richmond Hospital having been a prisoner from May through December.
His remains are in an unmarked grave at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond Va.A memorial stone Marks his grave at the Dagenhart Cemetery.
