1918-2010: VICTOR – Donald F. Gilgan, 92, of Victor, died at Valley View Nursing Home in Hamilton, on Sunday, April 11, 2010.

He was born on Feb. 23, 1918, in Allen, Wis., the son of Gustave and Emma (Henning) Gilgan.

Don completed the 8th grade and started working shortly after. He worked for a short time for the Northern Pacific Railroad then entered the U.S. Navy 1945, and was discharged as a Machinist Mate 3rd class during World War II. Don drove truck for the Alaskan pipeline and then made trucking his career.

He married Mary Theresa Sanzone on June 18, 1938, at Hamilton. The couple lived in Billings, Wyoming, Missoula and Victor where they have resided since 1978. Don was an avid fisherman and loved working on cars.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary in 1995; two brothers; and a granddaughter Shannon.

Don is survived by his daughter Maria Wordon of Victor; and a son Donald G. (Donna) Gilgan of Coburg, Ore.; six grandchildren, Lance and Curt in Oregon and Char of Victor, Kaleigh, Tide and Don, all of Missoula.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 16, at Our Savior Lutheran Church on Pine Hollow Road, Stevensville, with Pastor David Carver officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Missoula
