Dewain was born Friday, March 3, 1922, in Marion County, the son of the late James Thomas White Jr. and the late Ivy Butts White. He married Emma E. Banning White on August 28, 1941 in Marion County, IL. She preceded him in death on October 1, 2009.
He was employed by Egyptian Concrete for 31 years and also was a farmer. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and a 50 year member of the Labor Union of Salem. He was also a member of the Salem VFW, Salem American Legion and Disabled Veterans.
Dewain is survived by son, James R. White Sr., daughter, Deborah K. Atkinson, brothers, Pearl, Larry, and Lowell White, sister, Bea Bingman; seven grand children; twenty-one great grand children and eleven great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Sandra Lea Loughary; brothers, Verle E. White. Lyle White; sister June White; son-in-law James E. Atkinson; one grandson and one great grandson.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home.
A Funeral service was held at Neal Funeral Home. Interment will be at Elder Cemetery, rural Kinmundy, IL.
Memorials may be made to the Kinmundy American Legion Post.
