Mrs. Goolsby, a resident of Crockett, died Tuesday morning in the Houston County Hospital. She was born Sept. 13, 1891 in Houston County and had resided there all her life.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Crockett; a charter
member of the Crockett Culture Club, a charter member and past president of the Crockett PTA, and was a past worthy matron, Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Goolsby was active in the Women's Society of Christian Service, and was a past chairman of the Cancer Crusade.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Carl B. Goolsby of Crockett; a daughter, Mrs.
Martha Christenson of Colorado Springs, Colo; three brothers, D. Clint Cannon of Edinburg, Ben W. Cannon of Corpus Christi, and Louis Cannon of Pasadena; and two grandchildren, Carl II and Susan Jane.
Pallbearers were Baker Tunstall Jr., T. J. Tunstall, Joe Bennett, Dr. A. B.
Brown Jr., Jim Arnold and Herbert Callaway.
Helen Cannon Goolsby was the daughter of Wesley E. and Letty Lou Gainey Webb Cannon, and she was the oldest of eight children. She loved her family and friends, and she was an avid bridge player. Helen also enjoyed fishing at the lake near Crockett, and she was an excellent seamstress. Most of all, Helen was a joy to be around, for she brought out the best traits in almost everyone.
