Thursday, April 23, 1964 Obit for Mrs. Mattie Burton Ellis, 94, of Houston,
died in a Houston hospital Friday following a short illness.
Mrs. Ellis was born in Houston County on Dec. 31, 1859, but had lived in
Houston the last 14 years. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held from the Callaway Memorial Chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday,
with the Reverends A. S. Lee and Andrew Byers officiating. Interment was in
Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were John King, Nathan Shroyer, Sam Grundy, Jimmie Driskell, T. J.
"Spud" Tunstall and T. D. Craddock.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Harvey Bayne of Crockett; five
grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Callaway Funeral Home was in charge
of arrangement
