Mary Ellis was one of four children born to E. W. "Pete" Walker and Emily Wells Walker in the Ratcliff community of Houston County. She married Elbert Lee Ellis on December 30, 1942, and they lived in Crockett until her death in 1971 at age 47. Mary was a bookkeeper for the auction sale in Crockett for 23 years. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, and also of the Eastern Star, Chapter No. 509. Mary is survived by her husband, her parents, a brother John Mose Walker, a sister Dolly Evelyn Jonas, nephews and nieces.
