Boyd Finchum, age 75 of Sevierville, died Sunday, June 24, 2012 at his home with his family around him. Boyd was a life-long farmer and operated a dairy farm for over 25 years. Dad loved his family, was proud of his grandchildren and adored his great-grandchildren. He loved his racing and his mountains. He loved to fish and talking and spending time with friends and family.
Boyd was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Ramsey Finchum; parents, Hal and Alice Feezel Finchum and infant brother, Fred Finchum.
He is survived by his children and spouses, Gina and Wayne Leatherwood, Richard (Sam) and Kathy Finchum, Rita and Paul Johnson; grandchildren, Adam Leatherwood, Angela Finchum Cole, Neil Finchum, Lauren Johnson; great-grandchildren, Cayden and Ellie Cole; sisters-in-law, Edith Hecht of Florida, Elizabeth Davis of Knoxville; brother-in-law, Earl Ramsey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Bill Cannon, Sherry and Victor Breeden; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carthel and Judy McCoig, Darrell and Cathy McCoig; special cousin Linda Lowe Lee; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special "Thank you" to Danny and Peggy Shrader, Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice, Physicians Regional Medical Center and staff of the COU Unit, Newport Medical Center, Dr. Hood and staff, Family Practice Center, Dr. Garbarino and staff for the care you gave our Dad.
The family will receive friends 5-8 PM Tuesday at Atchley Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet 10 AM Wednesday at Burchfiel Memorial Cemetery for graveside service and interment. Rev. John Clark and Rev. Curtis Wells will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Alan Ottinger, Jay Ottinger, J.E. Mottern, Bill Ramsey, Lindel Shrader, Danny Shrader and David Ivey. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Murphy, Ray Parrott, Lon Thornton, Jr., Denton Glaspie, Ricky Caughorn, Lloyd Myers, Bill Henry, Theron Henry, Chester Dockery, Hal Derrick, Leonard "Monk" Huff, Clifford "Red" Rhine, Daniel "Boone" Kelly.
